The Tiffany Window

Within the nave one's eyes are immediately drawn to the magnificent Tiffany window on the north side.

This window is the signed "Tiffany of Centenary." Tiffany used for his inspired work the painting by William Holman Hunt (1827-1910), "The Light of the World."

Holman Hunt in 1854 achieved his first great success by this famous picture of Christ knocking at the door of the human heart. There is no latch string seen from the outside, for we each must open the door from within.

Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848- 1933) achieved his lustrous, iridescent surfaces by varying the thicknesses of the glass used. It is easy to feel these variations by lightly running the fingers over the surface.
